Since the conception of my business in 2016, I have posted my ceramics to a worldwide audience. I have sent out hundreds of small and large parcels—the largest order was for Anthropologie in 2023, for 220 pieces—which helped me keep creating the best packing methods for ceramics.
Each order has honed my skills in delivering ceramics to my esteemed customers, ensuring they arrive safely and bring delight to the recipient.
I use four main items to pack up my ceramics: double-walled boxes, paper bubble wrap, hive packaging and eco-flo.
My sourced boxes, crafted from heavy-duty brown cardboard made from double-wall cardboard, provide an extra layer of protection for your precious ceramics during transit.
Paper Bubble Wrap is not just an alternative to traditional bubble wrap, it's a testament to my unwavering commitment to sustainability. Crafted with deep indentations during the manufacturing process, it is the strongest product of its type, and is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable with biodegradable materials.
Hive Packaging is a 100% recyclable, biodegradable, protective paper wrap, and FSC-certified paper. It is perfect for presentations with no tape or glue required. This packaging solution is not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective. It is up to 50% more economical than the equivalent small bubble wrap and 20 times more space-saving than small bubble wrap, so you use fewer materials, saving both money and resources.
Eco Flo is a leading environmentally friendly void-fill packaging material. It is a maize-based starch void fill. When you receive your package, you'll find the items nestled in this protective material, ensuring they arrive in perfect condition. Available in white and cylindrical shapes, this material is used as a protective packaging product. Eco Flo is a fully compostable void-fill material that is 100% biodegradable.
I wrap your ceramics in navy blue tissue paper and add a Karen Dawn Curtis sticker. They are then carefully individually encased in hive packaging or paper bubble wrap. I seal the double-walled box with self-adhesive kraft paper tape and fill the base of the box with eco-filler. The item or items are placed in the box and covered in eco-filler. The box is then sealed with the paper tape.
In this article, I have explained how I package my items so they arrive safely at your door and the different products I use to ensure that my packaging is eco-friendly and sustainable. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at karen@karendawncurtis.co.uk.
